Since 1950 fiddlers and other musicians and dancers have gathered in Halifax to perform and compete in the Maritime Fiddle Festival. Workshops for fiddlers, guitar players and pianists are available, and musicians and step dancers all compete for a number of prizes. Events occur at the Akerley Campus as well as Prince Andrew High School, located next to Akerley.

A Maritime tradition since 1950, this festival showcases the musical talents of fiddlers from around the region and beyond. Festivities include concerts, fiddling competitions and workshop opportunities. The majority of venues are in the Dartmouth area of the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Sept. show will also feature a Maggie Sottero Fashion Gallery (the larget display of Maggie Sottero gowns ever held in the Maritimes) and fashion show by Winchester's Bridal. Shows run from 10-4 pm. Nocturne: Art at Night is a festival bringing art and energy to the streets of Halifax between 6:00 p.m. and midnight on Saturday, October 18th.
